In the context of Pakistan, The increased number of challenges such as poverty, access to health and education and basic needs, rapid population growth, Temporarily Displaced Persons issues, environmental disasters and humanitarian crises etc. are all contributing to people's increasing vulnerability. PRDS strongly believes in helping out the venerable communities through positive and active humanitarian response. PRDS developed the strategies, exploring how humanitarian needs can be undertaken in a faster and a long lasting way. Since the organization establishment, PRDS in collaboration with different partners and stakeholders such as UNDP, UNOCHA,UNICEF, UNHCR,OXFAM, Concerned World Wide,, TUSDEC/EU and CESSD Project of Cowater International to respond in different areas of communities needs like WASH, Food Security, Shelter/NFI, Health , Education, Nutrition and Livelihoods. The longer term objectives into the early stages of recovery of the humanitarian relief response to bridge up the gaps between relief work and longer term development. During and after the emergency and response, the ultimate challenge for the organizations and the funding partners is the Rehabilitation process and early recovery of the affected population. PRDS considers the early recovery to determine what feasible measures can be taken or should take to support their efforts to integrate Early Recovery in their programs before and during a crisis. PRDS being expert in community infrastructure and WaSH, supported the vulnerable population in different areas, constructed /rehabilitated community infrastructure like, roads, schools, health facilities including water and sanitation infrastructure. Construction and rehabilitation of the communal infrastructure linked the communities with the market and contributed to dignified and sustainable livelihood.
PRDS adheres to international Humanitarian standards to the greatest extent possible in all of its emergency work to ensure that disaster-affected populations are at least able to meet their basic right to live a life with dignity. We work directly with affected communities and local partners to help restore and strengthen their pre-disaster capacities. Besides answerable to the funding agencies PRDS is equally responsible to the persons of concern/project beneficiaries. There is a well-defined accountability framework of the organization, a complaint response mechanism and sound monitoring system to ensure transparency at all levels and empower the communities to ask about their rights.
